Mindset is Everything

“Build a strong mindset, your body will follow”

Your mindset sets the tone for your thoughts, the actions you take or don't take, and the habits that you form. Whether you think you can do it or not, you are correct. The best way to achieve your goals is to believe that you can and take action from there. In this blog post, I will give you my tips on improving your overall and fitness mindset to improve your fitness, mental health and ultimately your life.

What’s your Current Mindset?

The best place to start is exactly where you are. It’s important to understand your current mindset and how this impacts the achievement of your fitness and life goals. Be gentle with yourself, the intention is to strive for progress, not perfection.

If you find yourself engaging in a lot of negative self-talk, this will have a detrimental effect on your mindset without you even realizing. It’s important to be conscious of the way that you speak and think about yourself. Say these positive affirmations daily and watch your life transform!

I am strong
I am capable of achieving anything
I am love
I am healthy
I am safe
I am intelligent
I am beautiful
I am creating my dream life

These affirmations will help you develop a growth mindset where challenges are exciting rather than threatening. Rather than thinking, oh I’m going to reveal my weaknesses, you will learn to say, wow here’s a chance to grow. Each day is a new opportunity to improve yourself, take it and make the most of it. Your mind is a powerful thing, when you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.

Determine your Goals and Plan

Thinking about your goals and mapping out how to reach them with a plan is important to keep you on course. When deciding on your goals, make sure to manage your expectations and set realistic goals that are achievable. This will ensure you stay motivated and determined as, if goals are too long-term, they will feel insurmountable and it’s highly likely that you will feel overwhelmed and give up.

A great way to reach your fitness and life goals is to find someone that you can regularly check in with to keep you accountable. This can be a friend, family member or someone you’ve met on social media. The important thing is that this person must be positive and encouraging and that you do the same for them. You can both start small and then build on your goals like steps to success.

Transition your Motivation into Habits

Motivation is what gets you started. Habits are what keeps you going. If you are diligent and implement habits, like scheduling your workouts and healthy eating into your calendar and actually complete the tasks when the time comes, you can rely on your discipline when you don’t feel motivated. The body achieves what the mind believes. If you can master your mind, you’ll master your body.

Training and working out gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body. Working towards and reaching your fitness goals will have a flow-on effect to the rest of your life.

My last tip is not to wait until you’ve reached your goal to be proud of yourself, be proud of every step you take toward reaching that goal. Remember to have fun and celebrate the small wins!
